The Shanga House is a fascinating place, an ideal place to visit if you have a day to spare after returning from your safari or your Kilimanjaro climb. The Shanga House is also about supporting a local and very worthwhile organisation. Shanga means “beads” in Swahili and Shangaa means awesome. Shanga Shangaa Ltd is a not for profit company that employs nearly 60 disabled Tanzanian people who spend their time making really exquisite beadwork, homeware and accessories mainly from recycled materials. You can visit the Shanga House, which is located at River House in Arusha, next to the Burka Coffee Plantation.
